UNAIR NEWS – The topic of “fish milk” has recently sparked widespread discussion in both media and public discourse. Many perceive this innovative product as a promising alternative food source that offers various health benefits. However, it is essential to examine the terminology and purported advantages of fish milk more critically.
According to Prof. Dr. Ir. Annis Catur Adi, M.Si., a distinguished professor at Universitas Airlangga’s Faculty of Public Health (FKM UNAIR), the term “fish milk” is fundamentally inaccurate. Unlike mammals, fish do not possess mammary glands capable of producing milk.
