In mid-April 2024, Indonesian Rupiah weakened against the US Dollar to Rp 16,250. This depreciation significantly affects national economic activities. According to Prof Dr Rudi Purwono from Universitas Airlangga, the depreciated rupiah will increase the cost of oil imports and foreign debt, triggering inflation that will impact the daily living expenses of the population. To address this situation, Prof. Purwono recommends that the government, Bank Indonesia, and the private sector collaborate to maintain economic stability and protect the welfare of the people.
