UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) students have made another achievement. Antonio Nikolas Manuel Bonar Simamora, Marcel Laverda Subiyanto, and Chaerobby Fakhri Fauzaan Purwoko from the Statistics program successfully won Third Place in the Statistics Essay Competition in the 2022 Statistika Ria dan Festival Sains Data (Satria Data).
Held by the Indonesian Talent Development Center (BPTI) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbud Ristek), the Satria Data 2022 involves hundreds of teams and over 1,000 participants from universities across the nation.
Universitas Islam Indonesia hosted the event this year on December 6-9, 2022.
Winning Third Place in Statistics Essay Competition (SEC)
Hundreds of teams took part in the Statistics Essay Competition (SEC). Antonio and his team have made their best effort since the essay online submission. They went as the Top 10 finalists to compete. Finally, they won Third Place in the category.
“Approximately 211 teams compete. From UNAIR’s two teams, thankfully we made it to the final at the UII. Again, we’re grateful to win Third Place,” Antonio said.
Exploring national food price prediction app
Antonio and his team explored KomoditasKu app in their essay. KomoditasKu app can predict the national food price and accelerate food security in the post-pandemic era.
“Our idea is to implement the time series analysis statistics method,” he said.
Excellent features
The app offers helpful features for the market players to face economic challenges, especially the acceleration of post-pandemic national economic recoveries, such as the Cek Hargaku (Check Price), Cek Stokku (Check Supply), Cek Wilayahku (Check Region), and Berita Komoditasku (Commodity Updates).
“KomoditasKu offers various features, like Cek Hargaku to provide the commodity prices in the market, Cek Stokku to show the supply and estimate the commodity supplies needs, Cek Wilayahku to show the mapping according to the distribution of commodity prices, and Berita Komoditasku,” said Antonio.
Showcasing food price prediction
KomoditasKu is different from other food prediction apps. Antonio explained that the Berita Komoditasku feature will show the strategic food prediction at the national scale regularly in the future. The feature can offer recommendations for the government in making policies according to the food commodity price periodically.
“It focuses on describing national commodity food prices and providing food price predictions. This feature may recommend ideas for the government in making food policies post-pandemic,” he said.
The food price prediction will be released weekly, especially the national strategic commodity, like rice, onion, garlic, red chilies, cayenne pepper, beef, chicken, egg, and cooking oil.
