UNAIR NEWS – To improve the number and quality of scientific journal publications, the Institute of Innovation, Journal Development, Publishing, and Intellectual Property Rights (LIPJPHKI) of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) held “Pure On Site Workshop for Implementation of Scholar UNAIR” in Surabaya, December 19-20, 2022.
Scholar UNAIR is a Research Information Management System (RIMS) or application for scientific data, such as researcher information, scientific journal publications, and other work published by UNAIR. The platform also encourages the development of cross-sectoral collaboration and provides greater opportunities for UNAIR lecturers for funding and partnerships with fellow academicians, industry, and wider networks.
Scholar UNAIR with new performances
To improve their performance, the application, developed by the LIPJPHKI, has partnered up with Elsevier, a scientific journal publishing with international recognition. Jeremy Gibson, Elsevier Implementation Manager from Australia attended the event to share his knowledge.
The delegating participants from all faculties were given the opportunity to implement the materials. Jeremy said that the Scholar UNAIR will not replace human resources.
“It won’t replace human resources, it makes our job easier instead,” Gibson said.
Various types of published data are well-organized, making it easier for the researcher and librarian to archive the manuscripts and share the work globally. Besides, various scientific data will be securely handled to prevent the risks of plagiarism.
Appreciation from Elsevier
Elsevier has highly appreciated UNAIR for its partnership programs. Priyanka Chatterjee, Solution Sales Manager, Digital Commons, Research Intelligence SEA Academic and Government of Elsevier commended UNAIR’s publication programs.
“UNAIR has become one of our valuable partners with their amazing work,” Chatterjee said.
She further commended the university’s initiative in the Scholar UNAIR application. She believed that the application will give a global contribution.
“Scholar UNAIR has enormous potential. I appreciate the teamwork and the human resources. It’s well-designed and well-developed with high-quality content. We may see that UNAIR Scholars will increase UNAIR’s reputation and offer a global contribution,” she said.
Johan Jang, Elsevier Customer Consultant, supported her statement. “UNAIR is a strategic partner for Elsevier to build a research ecosystem with higher, global quality in Indonesia. UNAIR’s effort in developing Scholar UNAIR must be appreciated. It should be a role model for other institutions,” he said.
