Liverpool John Moores University students visit SIKIA Banyuwangi

UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga welcomed a group of international students to study and explore the beauty of Indonesian nature. Not only introducing the campus environment in Surabaya, but students from Liverpool John Moores University United Kingdom also visited the Universitas Airlangga School of Health and Natural Sciences ( SIKIA ) in Banyuwangi. The program is a series of international activities organized by Airlangga Global Engagement ( AGE ).

The visit will be carried out for six days from Monday, July 3, to Sunday, July 9, 2023, by visiting various places in Banyuwangi. Some activities include visiting Kemiren Osing Village, turtle conservation at Sukamade Beach, climbing the Ijen Crater, enjoying the Banyuwangi Ethno Carnival, and exploring the beauty of Bangsring and Tabuhan Island.

Introduce SIKIA’s regional excellence with its animal conservation

SIKIA Vice Director for Non-Academic Affairs, Dr. Mufasirin drh MSi welcomed the 12 inbound students. Previously, they traveled from Kediri after visiting the English village with UNAIR Faculty of Social and Political Sciences ( FISIP ).

“I’d like to say welcome to SIKIA Campus for all international students. We are delighted to receive this student visit from Liverpool,” he stated in Room A.101 of Giri Campus.

With three study programs: Veterinary Medicine, Aquaculture and Public Health, various advantages are offered by studying at SIKIA Banyuwangi. Many nature and animal conservation activities are strategic for the learning process.

“We excel in the field aquatic animals, the conservation and management of mangrove improvements,” he said.

Banyuwangi Regency is also well-known for its unique and interesting tourist destinations. With the activity program prepared by AGE and SIKIA, Dr. Mufasirin revealed several interesting things that international students can enjoy while in Banyuwangi.

“Mt. Ijen with its blue fire, is a rare phenomenon worldwide. You have to experience the local culture, like the Osing tribe and its local food,” he said.

With the many activities and tourism visits carried out with SIKIA, Liverpool John Moores University students are expected to be able to enjoy the unique and beautiful Banyuwangi.
