Maximizing contribution, UNAIR Rector inaugurates SDGs Center

UNAIR NEWS – Rector of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) Prof Dr Mohammad Nasih SE MT Ak CMA inaugurates Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Center Universitas Airlangga on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. The inauguration was meant to support the realization of schools and universities with the concept of a sustainable development curriculum.

Prof Nasih explained that shifting research priority is necessary. Namely, it aims to support the advancement of innovation in sustainable science developers. In addition, it needs emphasis on cross-disciplinary partnerships.

As a higher education institution, UNAIR is committed to strengthening collaboration. Therefore, by inviting every existing element. So various knowledge, creativity, and solutions are needed for a diverse society.

“UNAIR have taken significant stances and actions in the activities and values of the SDGs. It is evident by the fulfillment of the 17 associated SDGs Values. One of them can be seen from the university contribution in the implementation of education,” he said.

Moreover, it has been proven in the third point of the SDGs, namely regarding the facility, university hospital teaching, to floating hospitals. The impact of fulfilling these values can already help UNAIR in carrying out government duties.

“This can support the mandates from the government for crisis mitigation. The floating hospital itself focuses on providing access to services organized for people on remote islands and areas where facilities are not affordable. Ksatria Airlangga Hospital educated the community about the importance of Covid-19 vaccination in 12 remote islands in Madura,” he added.

Prof Nasih also emphasizes the need for the effectiveness of organizing programs related to the SDGs to be better. Especially paying attention to the scale, urgency, and crises complexity that has not received attention.

“UNAIR is ready to collaborate and decide the best solution to achieve SDGs. Through involvement (various party, ed) effectiveness and efficiency of the program has more impact on the wider community,” he revealed.
