UNAIR NEWS – The Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (KEMENPAN-RB) greets Universitas Airlangga students on Tuesday, April 11, 2023. The activity held at ASEEC Tower, Dharmawangsa-B Campus UNAIR was themed Bergerak Untuk Reformasi Birokrasi Berdampak (Advancing for Impactful Bureaucratic Reform).
Abdullah Azwar Anas, Minister of PAN-RB, attended the event joined by UNAIR Rector Prof. Moh Nasih and their staff.
The event moderated by the Dean of FISIP UNAIR Prof Dr Bagong Suyanto was attended by students with great enthusiasm. Students asked questions to the Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform, which Anas and other attending officials then answered. On that occasion, Anas introduced students to thematic Bureaucratic Reform (RB).
“According to the president’s directives, the bureaucracy should have more impact, and the number of meetings must also increase. The impact is not just on meetings. The bureaucracy should not just mean more piles of paper and its goals must be measurable,” said Anas.
Currently, it is necessary to sharpen the bureaucracy so that people can feel the impact directly. Thematic bureaucratic reforms focus on poverty alleviation, increasing investment, digitalization in government, and spending on domestic products.
“Right now, we need to set priorities with greater impact. If we used to be busy uploading thousands of documents to improve RB, we are reshuffling our focus on solving people’s problems such as poverty, investment, inflation, and domestic products,” said Anas.
Support critical students
The minister who once held the position of Banyuwangi Regent also emphasized the necessity to involve students in various activities such as the Public Consultation Forum. The Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform also asked students to be critical to policies related to public services.
“RB’s job is to manage investment governance. If investment in the regions does not increase, it means the service governance is still not good,” said Anas.
The Electronic Based Government System (SPBE) is an important indicator of progress in various countries. The better the SPBE, the better investment impact we get. Therefore SPBE becomes an important priority. This digital reform is the key to progress in bureaucratic reform.
In the Q&A session, Anas responded to student questions on how to encourage the integrity of ASN so that public trust would improve. One of them is digitalization because it will make faster, easier and more transparent. Then this digitalization program is the program that the government currently prioritizes.
In addition, Anas also received questions from students about his position as minister. He revealed that he had never thought of being a minister. The main key is to keep praying, and every job given must also be done well and enjoyed. (*)
