UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has once again recognized one of its top  students through the 2026 Outstanding Student Selection (Mawapres). The Directorate of Student Affairs officially awarded Mohammad Pradana Setyawan, a D4 Radiologic Imaging Technology student from the Faculty of Vocational Studies, first place in the university-level Diploma category. This achievement reflects his strong commitment and well-planned  competitive strategy, which he has developed since the early stages of his academic journey.

Gold at prestigious national competitions

A major factor behind Setyawan’s recognition is his success in highly competitive national competitions. He strategically focused on events organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemendikti), known for their rigorous standards. Within his first year of study, he secured two notable achievements.

He won a gold medal (first place) at the Student Digital Innovation Competition (LIDM) and a silver medal (second place) at the National Student Competition in Business, Management, and Economics (KBMK). “Kemendikti competitions are highly credible because they involve top delegates from universities across Indonesia. Winning medals there significantly strengthened my key achievements,” Setyawan explained. His accomplishments not only brought pride to the university but also attracted coverage from national media outlets such as Kompas TV.

Extensive achievements and role in tourism promotion

Setyawan’s profile as a multi-talented student is reflected in more than 40 awards he has received. His achievements extend beyond radiologic science into fields such as business, public policy, and academic research. His ability to work across disciplines has shaped him into a well-rounded and solution-oriented individual.

In addition to his academic accomplishments, Setyawan has been actively involved in cultural and tourism initiatives. He has served as a tourism ambassador at both district and provincial levels. “For me, being an Outstanding Student means being worthy of representing an institution like UNAIR, which has strong credibility in Indonesia,” Setyawan added, emphasizing the importance of contributing beyond the classroom.

Strategic preparation and representing Ksatria Airlangga

Setyawan’s success is the result of structured long-term planning. Since his early semesters, he has mapped out competition targets, participated in community service, and secured intellectual property rights (IPR). His strategy of “understanding the field” became a key advantage, as he consistently conducted in-depth research on judging criteria and competition expectations before participating.

For Setyawan, earning the Mawapres title carries a moral responsibility to inspire fellow students at Universitas Airlangga. He noted that the process has shaped him into a more disciplined individual with strong integrity. With national-level achievements and extensive experience, Setyawan is prepared to elevate UNAIR’s reputation further, demonstrating that vocational students can compete and excel on the national stage.
