UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has sent out 510 students to participate in the 4th “Belajar Bersama Komunitas” (Learning with the Community) program in Mojokerto Regency. The opening session was held at Mojokerto City Hall on Tuesday morning, July 2, 2024.

Attending the event were the Director of Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Sukardiman, and the Regent of Mojokerto, Dr. Ikfina Fahmawati. Prof. Sukardiman emphasized that the students must apply the knowledge they have gained in college to benefit the community. They are expected to assist in various development programs, including education, healthcare, and environmental protection in Mojokerto.

The professor from UNAIR’s Faculty of Pharmacy also urged students to contribute to the development of tourism, a key sector in Mojokerto Regency. Additionally, he advised the students to uphold UNAIR’s reputation in the community.

“Please maintain UNAIR’s good name in the community. Show that you can engage and contribute to the development of Mojokerto Regency,” he said.

Meanwhile, Regent Dr. Ikfina Fahmawati hopes that UNAIR students could help address malnutrition and stunting issues, particularly in Trawas sub-district, which has the highest stunting rates in Mojokerto.

“I hope that medical students or prospective nutrition experts have programs to address stunting. I ask them to focus on community assistance, especially for families with stunted children and high-risk pregnant women,” she said.

Dr. Fahmawati also hopes that students will contribute to environmental education, especially in waste management. She encouraged students to collaborate in creating productive and creative activities with local youth organizations in each village.

“I hope you can collaborate with local youth organizations to design creative programs for the youth,” she added.

The 510 students will serve in 51 villages across three sub-districts: Trawas, Godangan, and Pacet, in Mojokerto Regency. They will be supervised by 28 lecturers from various faculties at UNAIR.
