UNAIR NEWS – Life as a student at Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) extends far beyond lectures and classrooms. The university offers extensive opportunities for students to gain international academic exposure through a range of global programs that are accessible while they are still enrolled.
According to Irfan Wahyudi, S.Sos., M.Comm., Ph.D., Director of Airlangga Global Engagement, UNAIR’s international initiatives are designed to broaden students’ perspectives through multicultural and globally oriented learning experiences.
These opportunities are not limited to international students alone. UNAIR students are equally encouraged to take part in programs that enhance their global outlook. “Students can enroll in international classes, participate in exchange programs, or join short-term activities that integrate academic learning with cultural exchange,” Wahyudi said.
Among the university’s flagship initiatives is the International Undergraduate Program (IUP), which adopts an internationally benchmarked curriculum. UNAIR also runs the AMERTA program, allowing international students to attend regular courses on campus. Their presence contributes to a more diverse, dynamic, and engaging classroom environment.
From exchanges to summer programs
UNAIR students have access to a wide range of international opportunities. These include student exchanges with overseas partner institutions, joint classes and hybrid mobility schemes, as well as summer schools and short-term programs such as AIRVENTURE and STELLAR. Beyond academic enrichment, these initiatives help students establish international connections early in their studies.
Wahyudi noted that international exposure plays a key role in students’ overall development. In addition to strengthening English proficiency, participants learn to adapt to new settings, collaborate across cultures, and engage with global academic standards.
“Such experiences provide a clear advantage when graduates enter the job market or pursue further education abroad,” he added.
To support student participation in international programs, UNAIR offers comprehensive assistance, including academic guidance and credit transfer arrangements, mobility grants, and administrative and orientation services. Through these measures, the university aims to encourage more students to take advantage of global opportunities during their studies.
The availability of these international programs offers a strategic opportunity for students to gain global experience without waiting until graduation. With a continually expanding international ecosystem, UNAIR not only supports timely graduation but also prepares its students to compete and contribute on a global stage.
