UNAIR NEWS – Tears of joy shed by Ratu Sakinatul Aqila when she became one of Ksatria Airlangga through SNMPTN 2022. Ratu could not believe that she would be accepted and became the youngest student in the Bachelor’s program of Political Sciences at the Faculty of Social and Political Science (FISIP) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR).

During her formal education, the 14-year-8-month-old student has participated in an acceleration program since stepping onto the junior high school level. After graduating from MTs Unggulan Amanatul Ummah Surabaya, Ratu took the acceleration program at Nahdlatul Ulama 1 Gresik High School.

As an acceleration student, Ratu admitted that she had big ambitions about academic value. Every day Ratu always spends time studying half or one chapter ahead of her classes and never gets behind on her homework. In fact, Ratu usually stays up until midnight.

“After finishing piling tasks, it feels like winning the lottery. If the tasks were a lot, I give myself rewards after working on it,” she said.

The student born on July 15, 2008, revealed that sometimes she almost gave up. However, having friends with spirit, ambition, and determination made Ratu keep motivated not to be left behind.

Actively memorizing the Quran

Not only excelled in academics, but Ratu also attended tahfidz (memorizer) classes. She claimed to have been actively memorizing the Quran since childhood. She has now memorized 15 juz. Ratu also often participates in tahfidz competitions until she gets an award at the Regency level. She also won 2nd Place in the Arabic Language National Arabic Competition in 2021 in Gresik Regency.

“In addition to pursuing academics, I am more focused on pursuing my memorization. Because I believe in the principle that my mother emphasized since childhood, ‘pursue your afterlife, then the world will follow,” she added.

Planning to join BEM and graduate faster

Being in the acceleration since junior high school, Ratu hopes to graduate faster when studying bachelor’s degree in Political Science. She also hopes to join BEM while completing the memorization of the Quran.

“I want to make Indonesia proud in the international arena and bring benefits to everyone,” she said.

Ratu advised the UTBK (Computer Based Entrance Test) fighters to remain confident in the process. She also reminded them to fight and pray.

“Efforts will not betray results, keep up the spirit!” she said. (*)
