UNAIR NEWS – Academic success was not merely a matter of achieving perfect grades, but rather the capacity to find profound meaning in the journey toward discovering one’s true identity. This was the perspective expressed by Anggita, a graduate of the History Department at the Faculty of Humanities (FIB), Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR). As a recipient of the KIP-Kuliah scholarship, she successfully graduated with cum laude honors and a GPA of 3.93 within a study period of just seven semesters. Furthermore, in recognition of her exceptional achievements, she was awarded a Master’s scholarship by the Rector of UNAIR.
“I am continuing this journey supported not only by the KIP-K scholarship but also by the encouragement of the professors around me and Universitas Airlangga itself,” Anggita stated during Graduation 261 ceremony of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) on Sunday, April 12, 2026.
Although she experienced moments of doubt in the middle of her studies, she consistently pushed herself out of her comfort zone and dedicated herself to the field of research. In appreciation of her diligence, the Vice Rector of UNAIR, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Madyan, S.E., M.Si., M.Fin., provided special recognition in the form of an opportunity to serve as a teaching assistant in the History Department, alongside a scholarship to pursue a Master’s degree (S2) at the Faculty of Humanities (FIB).
Confronting stagnation during the study period
Anggita’s academic journey was not always seamless, as she encountered a period of stagnation and had doubts regarding the relevance of the discipline she was pursuing. She tried not to give up to these feelings, she attempted to explore her potential through research programs and off-campus studies that received full support from her department and faculty.
This proactive step became a significant turning point for her, as she realized that in order to develop one’s potential, a student cannot simply remain passive; instead, one must continuously try new things and possess the courage to take risks. It was this bravery in exploring realities beyond the classroom that ultimately helped her regain motivation to complete her studies with maximum results.
Future plans
While preparing for her next major professional steps, Anggita has chosen to take a brief hiatus to rest and organize herself. “I want to take a short break while beginning to draft a more in-depth research design, so that I can create a meaningful contribution to the academic world and bring broad benefits to the community,” she remarked.
“I also want to express my gratitude to all parties who have supported this journey. For those who are still in doubt or have not yet found their direction, believe that this process will find its own way for each of us,” Anggita concluded.
