UNAIR NEWS – The 37th National Student Scientific Week (PIMNAS) at Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) is in full swing. On Tuesday, October 15, 2024, judges evaluated the posters of PIMNAS 37 finalists. These posters, displayed at the UNAIR Sports Hall on the MERR-C campus, are a significant aspect of PIMNAS, as they visually represent the work of the finalists.

Putu Gede, a poster jury member from the Indonesian Talent Development Agency (BPTI), explained that PIMNAS involves four key components: presentations, posters, favorite participants, and outstanding students. “In the Student Creativity Program (PKM), there are nine categories, ranging from futuristic innovations to social and humanities research, each encompassing a wide range of knowledge,” Gede stated.

Gede highlighted that in the PKM, posters serve as a critical visual representation of student ideas, which are brought to life through the program. He stressed the importance of creativity, particularly in art and design, for effectively presenting the finalists’ work.

“A poster is essentially a synthesis of students’ ideas condensed into a single sheet. Two essential factors need to be considered: first, the creative ideas conveyed through visual language, and second, the artistic creativity in how they use art and design to make the poster visually appealing,” said the BPTI jury member.

Gede noted that PIMNAS has evolved over the years, with the quality of the posters becoming more competitive. “Unlike PIMNAS five years ago, where the differences between well-made and less effective posters were more pronounced, the level of ability among students has now evened out. Whether in entrepreneurship, community service, or other fields, it has become more challenging to determine the winners,” he concluded.
