UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has reaffirmed its strong presence in global higher education through the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE WUR) 2026. Based on official data released by THE, UNAIR is listed in the global ranking cluster #1201–1500 with an overall score of 30.25. Nationally, UNAIR is placed in Cluster #3=, alongside five other Indonesian universities. This year’s ranking includes 2,191 institutions from 115 countries and territories, reflecting the growing competitiveness of universities worldwide.
The THE WUR 2026 ranking is based on 17 performance indicators across five key categories, each with different weightings: Research Quality (30%), Industry (4%), International Outlook (7.5%), Research Environment (29%), and Teaching (29.5%). The ranking serves as a global benchmark, helping prospective students, academics, industry leaders, and policymakers evaluate the quality, research strength, and international competitiveness of universities around the world.
UNAIR earned its highest score in the International Outlook category (66.3), ranked #1 nationally. This achievement highlights the university’s growing international recognition, driven by strong global partnerships, active faculty and student mobility, and continuous international research collaboration.
In addition, UNAIR scored 39.2 in Research Quality, underscoring its commitment to producing high-quality and impactful research. The university also scored 14.1 in Research Environment, 24.8 in Industry, and 28.6 in Teaching, all contributing to its overall success.
Rector of Universitas Airlangga, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Madyan, SE, MSi, MFin, stated that the accomplishment reflects the dedication and collaboration of the entire UNAIR academic community.
“We remain steadfast in our efforts to strengthen research excellence, expand international networks, and enhance the quality of education. This recognition is not merely a number—it is evidence of UNAIR’s ongoing transformation toward becoming a world-class university,” he said.
