Assalaamu ‘alaikum wr.wb.
May the peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you.
Ladies and gentlemen,
Alhamdulillah! Praise be to Allah, The Almighty, for giving us the opportunity to gather here at 2022 World Immunology Day: International Conference of Immunology Study Program in good health.
I would like to extend my gratitude to the Master’s Program of Immunology, Postgraduate School Universitas Airlangga for holding this international conference on “Traces of Autoimmune Disease: Current Understanding”. I hope the conference can run well and achieve all its objectives.
Ladies and gentlemen,
We all know that since 2005, April 29 has been commemorated as International Day of Immunology. It was initiated by the European Federation of Immunological Society (EFIS) in order to strengthen the general public’s awareness of immunology as a basis for individual health and well-being.
Therefore, we would like to commend the active contribution of the Master’s Program of Immunology, Postgraduate School Universitas Airlangga in “World Immunology Day” commemoration by organizing this international seminar and conference which is themed: “Traces of Autoimmune Disease: Current Understanding”.
Ladies and gentlemen,
We really appreciated the committee for addressing the issues on autoimmune diseases. They still become significant problems faced by various countries around the world. Autoimmune conditions are multifactorial in their cause, with a mixture of genetic and environmental factors often playing a role.
To address the problems, various efforts have been made in multidisciplinary scale. It does not only covers treatments by doctors and nurses, but patients also requires greater roles from the surrounding people and environments as supporting systems. The complexity of conditions faced by patients greatly affects their life.
Ladies and gentlemen,
We need to understand that Indonesia’s healthcare system is not on par with the one in developed countries yet. Poor system especially amid pandemic leads to worsening state of health sector. In this ‘not so good’ global health situation, other infectious diseases may appear as a result.
Therefore, the handling of autoimmune diseases has been even more challenging since the outbreak of Covid-19, as it increases the prevalence of autoimmune diseases.
Ladies and gentlemen,
For this reason, the conference theme on “Traces of Autoimmune: Current Understanding” should be a great reference to reveal the latest autoimmune condition in Indonesia, especially in dealing with the pandemic. This conference marks the university’s contribution to support the European Federation of Immunological Societies (EFIS) in commemorating “Immunology Day” which is to to strengthen the general public’s awareness of immunology as a basis for individual health and well-being.
Ladies and gentlemen,
We really hope that this international conference can be a medium for knowledge transfer to all medical workers, medical practitioners, academics and students in medicine and the wider community in understanding the history of autoimmune conditions, especially in Indonesia and in preparing for future challenges.
This conference will greatly give insights to students and medical practitioners working in healthcare sector and also the public in understanding the conditions and their treatments.
Ladies and gentlemen,
Finally, have a great conference, and hopefully, our participation in this event can be our contributions to the community, and may all of us always have the blessing of Allah SWT. Thank you.
Billahi taufiq wal hidayah
Wassalaamu’alaikum wr.wb.
