UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga Rector and Indonesian Rector Forum Chairman (FRI) for 2022-2023, Prof Dr. Moh Nasih SE MT Ak, visited the Regional Office of Cianjur Government on Friday, December 16, 2022. He distributed social assistance funds from FRI for the survivors of Cianjur earthquake in November.

Commending FRI’s initiative

Cianjur Regent Herman Suherman warmly welcomed UNAIR Rector and commended FRI’s initiative for humanity, especially for the survivors of the Cianjur earthquake.

The earthquake claimed hundreds of lives and caused huge material losses. The government must prepare for responsive actions and extra concern post-disaster.

That includes damage repair, building relocation houses, providing medical access, and economic recovery. The FRI assistance fund, Rp 150 million, will be used to help communities in 15 sub-districts impacted.

Voluntary assistance

Besides, Herman expressed his gratitude for the assistance from the higher education institutions through the voluntary program and community service.

“More than 73 universities have volunteered and spread to several clusters to help the survivors,” he said.

FRI is ready to help

Professor Nasih hoped that FRI’s assistance will accelerate the recovery of Cianjur earthquake survivors.

“If the Cirebon Government needs post-disaster assistance like trauma healing and the likes, UNAIR with other universities are here to help,” he said.
