UNAIR NEWS – Strengthening partnerships with various institutions is crucial for advancing shared objectives. In pursuit of this goal, Universitas Airlangga Hospital (RS UNAIR) continues to expand its collaborations. One such effort was marked by a visit from representatives of Kobe University on Wednesday (Feb. 19, 2025).
Prof. Dr. Nasronudin, dr., SpPD, K-PTI, FINASIM, Director of RS UNAIR, highlighted that the partnership was made possible through the contributions of multiple stakeholders. “The research and collaboration between Indonesia and Japan, particularly between Universitas Airlangga and Japanese institutions, have been successfully established thanks to the efforts of various initiators and stakeholders,” he stated.
He emphasized that the initiative aims to maximize societal benefits. “Collaboration plays a vital role in ensuring that research and its applications bring meaningful advantages to a broader audience,” he explained.
Three key research priorities
During the visit, Prof. Nasronudin outlined three primary areas of focus for the collaboration. The first priority is academic research, aimed at advancing scientific discoveries. “Our first objective is to enhance academic output, including increasing research publications and securing intellectual property rights such as patents,” he noted.
The second area of focus involves policy-oriented research, particularly in vaccine development at RS UNAIR. “This research initiative will also be directed towards policy-oriented outcomes, including the development of various vaccines or even producing vaccines from scratch at RS UNAIR,” he elaborated.
The third priority is the commercialization of healthcare innovations. Prof. Nasronudin emphasized that this aligns with national strategic goals. “The downstream application of research to develop bioproducts supports the president’s vision, allowing us to contribute to national objectives and broader government initiatives,” he concluded.
