UNAIR NEWS – Reinforcing its commitment to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the SDGs Center at Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) conducted an official visit to Bakrie Foundation headquarters in Jakarta. The meeting, held on Wednesday, July 5, 2025, focused on two major initiatives: initiating a student internship program at community-based BUMDes (village-owned enterprises), and co-developing a Leadership for SDGs curriculum.
The SDGs Center was represented by Dr. Ahmad Safril Mubah, lecturer in International Relations at UNAIR’s Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) and Coordinator of the Center’s Expert Team, along with MM, a data analyst at the Center.

Representing Bakrie Foundation were Ramadhanie, Head of Program; Christine, Coordinator of the Campus Leaders Program; Luthfia, Program Development Officer; and Khalidazia from the program development team.
Advancing SDGs
The initiatives discussed reflect a strong mutual commitment to several core Sustainable Development Goals. The proposed leadership curriculum supports SDG 4 by promoting quality education and equipping students with interdisciplinary knowledge of sustainability and leadership. The internship program aligns with SDG 8 by enhancing economic opportunities in rural areas while offering students hands-on, meaningful work experience. By empowering village-based enterprises and fostering community-led development, the program contributes to SDG 11’s vision of sustainable communities. Moreover, the collaboration itself exemplifies SDG 17, serving as a tangible model of institutional partnership in support of the global 2030 agenda.
The internship program at Bakrie Foundation-supported BUMDes is envisioned as an experiential learning initiative that not only builds students’ professional competencies but also drives social and economic progress at the village level. In the coming months, the SDGs Center will assess relevant student skill sets and establish a sustainable framework for participant placement.
At the same time, the Leadership for SDGs curriculum under development aims to integrate sustainability principles into student leadership training across disciplines. The program is intended to nurture a new generation of inclusive, forward-thinking leaders committed to creating lasting social impact.
