UNAIR NEWS – Faculty of Health, Medicine, and Natural Sciences (FIKKIA) UNAIR continues to make internationalization efforts. One of them, through the Veterinary Medicine study program, FIKKIA collaborates with the College of Veterinary Medicine Central Mindanao University (CMU), Philippines.

The signing of the MoU between both institutions on Monday, April 29, 2024, at Mojo Banyuwangi Campus marked the collaboration. Representatives from CMU included Prof Alan P Dargantes DVM MTVSc; Assoc Prof Jose M Obdencio Jr DVM MS PhD; Prof Hazel Marie R Boloron DVM MS; Prof Philip John S Sajol DVM MS; and Assoc Prof Maria Lebeña B Montemayor DVM MS PhD.

This visit was a follow up of the previous agreement. FIKKIA’s team visited CMU on Friday, November 17, 2023, at Central Mindanao University, Philippines. With the MoU signing, FIKKIA welcomed the delegates and responded positively collaboration.

The collaboration between FIKKIA and CMU covers the tridharma agenda: education, research and community service. The programs promoted are student and staff mobility, joint research and publication, and collaborative community service.

In his speech, the Dean of FIKKIA Prof Dr Soetojo dr SpU(K) responded positively and assessed that this collaboration was an opportunity for FIKKIA and CMU to produce positive progress.

Student mobility

One form of collaboration that has been realized is student mobility. FIKKIA is currently accepting six students from CMU to undertake international field work practices through the “On The Job Training Program at FIKKIA Universitas Airlangga”. Specifically, from April 22 to May 13, 2024.

Meanwhile, representing CMU, Prof. Jose expressed his gratitude for the warm reception of their students at FIKKIA. He hopes that in the future there will be more CMU students who can study at FIKKIA UNAIR.

“Thank you for accommodating our students while studying here,” he said.

Prof Jose hopes that this collaboration will continue to develop and produce even more brilliant achievements in the future. FIKKIA and CMU are committed to working together to create innovations, improve the quality of veterinary education, and make positive contributions to the global community.
