Strengthening governance, UNAIR collaborates with BPKP East Java

UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the East Java Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP Jatim). The signing session was held in the Plenary Meeting Room, Management Office, MEER C Campus on June 23, 2023.

Attending the meeting were Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih SE MT Ak as Rector of UNAIR and Abul Chair as Head of BPKP East Java Representative.

“This meeting is an effort to strengthen the relationship between both institutions. The goal is to strengthen higher education governance in implementing higher education tridharma,” said the Head of BPKP East Java.

East Java BPKP program Focus

In the MoU, BPKP East Java focuses on developing good governance by cooperating with stakeholders and partners.

UNAIR has submitted a proposal for the development process independently without involving other parties. It aims to improve the efficiency of the financial process. UNAIR also cooperates with Indonesia National Transparency in setting up a conflict of interest mechanism.

“It certainly requires deeper understanding and assistance in business processes regarding education and research. Furthermore, we have to look for the root of the problem that is hindering the smooth running of the program,” added Abul Chair.

Encountered problems

In this case, there are problems that we must overcome together, including the frequent import activities for tools or supporting materials like medical devices. However, many tools or materials created locally are no less good quality than imported products.

“With this collaboration, in the future, we can play a more significant role in reducing state losses by involving universities this time,” he concluded.
