UNAIR NEWS – Huge digitalization potential in Indonesia requires enormous digital savvy human resources. To fulfill the needs, Semicolon is ready to accelerate the digital talents in Indonesia.
Receives Funding
Semicolon was coined by four Universitas Airlangga students, Muhammad Wildan A.H, Rima Novela, Siti Nur Azizah, and Maliky Syailendra H.S for the 2022 Human Digital Entrepreneurial Innovation (IWDM). After going through a tight selection, Semicolon receives funding from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbud Ristek).
The startup aims to provide a special platform for the younger generation to learn more about technology, especially basic programming techniques, mentoring, and career direction at certain periods for participants.
The Semicolon
The name Semicolon, or ‘titik koma’ in Indonesian, was chosen for its identicalness to the programming language. “Every programming language uses a semicolon to separate code statements between lines, therefore our business in the field was named after the semicolon,” said Wildan, the team leader.
Under the supervision of Asri Bekti Pratiwi SSi Msi, the team hoped that Semicolon will help youngsters, especially students with their career preparations in programming and computation. “We hope the idea will help Indonesia in fulfilling the expert resources in information and technology,” he said.
From Competition to Pitching
The team is currently preparing the business work system and required facilities. Until November, supervision and mentoring will be conducted to ensure the business run smoothly. If everything falls into place, the team will gain a pitching opportunity to the investors.
“For the lecturers and friends, we kindly ask for your support and prayers. We hope to do the best for the growth of Indonesia and alma mater in the national level,” Wildan said.
