UNAIR NEWSUniversitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has once again secured a major national recognition. At the 2025 Anugerah Media Humas (AMH) hosted by the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemkomdigi), UNAIR earned First Place in the Public Communication Campaign category. The award ceremony took place at Hotel Borobudur in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (Nov. 12, 2025).

Dr. Pulung Siswantara, SKM, MKes, Head of UNAIR’s Center for Public Relations and Protocol (PHMP), attended the event and emphasized that this accomplishment serves as a strong motivator for the university. He noted that it reflects UNAIR’s commitment to advancing public communication and enhancing cross-unit collaboration. “This award is not only a recognition of the PR team’s hard work, but also the product of collective efforts across the university to strengthen UNAIR’s message and reputation as an institution with real impact,” he said.

This year, UNAIR’s public communication campaign adopted the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as its overarching theme, underscoring the university’s commitment to sustainable development through its three pillars of higher education: teaching, research, and community service. The campaign highlights UNAIR’s active role in delivering practical solutions to social, economic, environmental, and global partnership challenges, ranging from climate change and clean water access to proper sanitation and poverty alleviation, through research innovation, community empowerment, and strengthened international networks.

Dr. Siswantara further explained that public communication is a critical component of institutional public relations management. “Public communication is the core of PR work. It encompasses planning, strategy, and monitoring and evaluation. Each element is interconnected to ensure that the university’s messages are delivered effectively and remain relevant,” he said.

AMH 2025 featured six competition categories across three participant classifications: Ministries/Agencies/SOEs/ROEs, Public Universities, and Provincial/Regency/City Governments. Of the 190 institutions that registered, 154 passed the verification and curation stages and moved forward to the final judging process.

Public communication serves as both a representation and concrete expression of PR performance. It functions as the bridge between institutions and the public, ensuring that information is credible, accessible, and capable of building trust.

In closing, Dr. Siswantara stressed that the award fuels UNAIR’s drive to continue innovating in public relations. “We hope this achievement ignites stronger enthusiasm to deliver high-quality, creative public communication rooted in the spirit of Excellence with Morality. With this momentum, UNAIR will continue to grow as an impactful and integrity-driven institution for Indonesia and the world,” he concluded. (*)
