UNAIR NEWS – To address the growing competitiveness of the job market, the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Universitas Airlangga held an inspiring talk show. The program was part of the main lineup of Job Fair Career Week 2025, aimed at equipping students with practical strategies and relevant skills.
The event, titled JOBS: Journey Overcome Build Strength to Face the Modern Job Market, took place at the Fadjar Auditorium, FEB Main Building, Dharmawangsa-B Campus, on Wednesday (Sept. 10, 2025). The session featured Esther Natalia Dominiq Lubis, S.H., CEO and founder of Produktifkuy, as the keynote speaker.
Realistic and adaptive in workplace
Lubis highlighted the importance of being realistic when pursuing a career. Drawing on her personal experience, she noted that professional paths are not always linear or directly tied to one’s academic background.
“I believe life isn’t that straightforward. You may study in one field but end up working in something entirely different—and that’s completely fine,” she said.
She emphasized that early in a career, the priority should be the ability to sustain oneself and meet basic needs. “We need to recognize the reality. As long as you can live, pay your bills, and be a blessing to others, why not?” she told the audience.
Building personal branding on social media
Lubis also stressed the value of personal branding on social media, particularly LinkedIn. Recruiters, she explained, look not only at a candidate’s résumé but also at their digital presence. She encouraged students to share their accomplishments openly.
“Started a business? Post it. Created something? Post it. Learned a skill? Post it. Gained an experience? Post it. That’s personal branding, not bragging,” she asserted. In her view, social media activity serves as concrete evidence of the qualifications listed on paper.
“If you want to see my professional track record, you’ll find it on LinkedIn,” she added, underscoring the platform as a key professional portfolio.
The event targeted FEB UNAIR students and alumni preparing to enter the workforce after graduation. By presenting a credible and experienced speaker, BEM FEB UNAIR aimed to inspire and motivate participants to be ready to compete in today’s dynamic job market.
