UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has inaugurated new professors on Wednesday, August 31, 2022. Two UNAIR vice-rectors also received the honorary title among the four new professors. They are Prof. Dr. Muhammad Madyan SE MSi MFin as Vice-Rector for Resources and Prof. M. Miftahussurur dr. MKes SpPD-KGEH PhD FINASIM as Vice-Rector for Digitalization and Internationalization.

In addition, a professorship was also awarded to Prof. Dr. Rudi Purwono SE MSE from the Faculty of Economics and Business and Prof. Dr. Anang Endaryanto dr. SpAK from the Faculty of Medicine. UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih SE MT Ak expressed his gratitude and high appreciation. He believed that the presence of a new professor could have a tremendous impact on UNAIR.

“The orations were very inspiring, showed that it is impossible for us to stand for one discipline,” he said at the Garuda Mukti Hall, MERR C Campus.

The sentence refers to the orations of four professors who involve various disciplines in their research. Starting from the collaboration of medical research with accounting and climate change to the combination of management science with VUCA problems (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity, ed).

Prof. Nasih also highlighted climate change and VUCA due to human greed. He viewed the problems as tasks for professors. On a formal scale, he called greed emerges in systems and ideologies. Both of them continued to focus on growth until they became addicted. “You have to grow, grow and grow while forgetting the justice,” he added.

“I hope professors can contribute to problem-solving, not just fundamentally. But also from the root of the problem,” he said.

Prof. Madyan received a professorship in Management Science, Prof. Miftahussurur became a professor in Internal Medicine, Prof. Rudi became a professor in Economics, and Prof. Anang holds professorship in Pediatrics. (*)
