UNAIR NEWSUniversitas Airlangga (UNAIR), through the Airlangga Health Promotion Center (AHPC), reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a healthy and resilient campus by hosting a free health screening event. The initiative, titled Happy & Healthy Lifestyle (H2L), took place on Tuesday (April 22, 2025), at the ASEEC Tower Lobby on the Dharmawangsa-B Campus. The event was open to all members of the university community.

The H2L program is part of UNAIR’s preventive health campaign, designed to safeguard the well-being of faculty members, administrative staff, and students. Health services offered included BMI measurement, waist circumference checks, blood glucose testing, and various screenings—such as for tuberculosis (TB), mental health, and early detection of substance use (NAPZA). Additional services included blood donation and Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) for early cervical cancer screening.

Dr. Sri Widati, SSos, MSi, Head of AHPC, stated that the event aimed to build a physically and mentally healthy academic community. “One of the key strategies is offering comprehensive health assessments like this. We’re checking height, weight, waistline, and blood sugar, and providing mental health and TB screenings as well,” she explained.

The event drew a strong turnout from the UNAIR academic community. By early morning, hundreds of participants had gathered to undergo health screenings. Dr. Widati shared that the team set a target of reaching 500 to 600 participants during the event.

“We’re thrilled with the enthusiastic response. It’s a clear sign that more people are recognizing the importance of early health intervention. Our hope is that everyone can take proactive responsibility for their own health,” she added.

The event was the result of collaborative efforts between UNAIR and several partners, including the local Health Department, the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), and AHPC’s student-led community, Sobat Happy and Healthy (SOPI). This multi-stakeholder approach turned the initiative into a collective campaign for community well-being.

“Coordinating across different sectors does present challenges, but strong collaboration helps everything run smoothly. In fact, shared responsibilities make the work feel lighter and more impactful,” said Dr. Widati.

The H2L program has been held regularly since its launch in 2022, with participant numbers steadily growing each year. “This year, we plan to hold at least six sessions. We’re also looking into adding occasional health fairs and exhibitions beyond our regular programming,” she concluded.

Through the Happy & Healthy Lifestyle initiative, UNAIR continues to champion preventive and promotive healthcare strategies, aligning with its vision of becoming a world-class university that prioritizes the quality of life of its academic community.
