UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) hosted Paragon Day at Majapahit Hall, ASEEC Tower, Dharmawangsa-B Campus on Tuesday (October 8, 2024). The event aimed to inspire students and recent graduates to pursue career opportunities in the beauty industry, featuring insights from successful UNAIR alumni now working at Paragon Corp.
Paragon Day was part of the Alumni Sharing Session series, titled Discover How You Can Be Part of Something Bigger. Two guest speakers were invited: Ayu Tarantika Indreswari, a graduate of the Pharmacy Professional Education Program currently working in brand building for OMG, and Claretta Vanny Avionita, an accountant at Paragon Corp.
Challenges of building brand awareness
Indreswari shared her experience in establishing the OMG brand. Despite her background in pharmacy, she embraced a strategic role in brand development at Paragon. The UNAIR Pharmacy alumna explained that before launching OMG, her team first identified problems from consumer standpoint. “A brand isn’t just about creating a product and being done with it. It’s about discovering gaps—existing problems in the market—and providing solutions,” she said passionately.
Indreswari also emphasized that the foundation of building brand awareness lies in understanding consumer needs and expectations. She highlighted the importance of teamwork at Paragon in developing the OMG brand. “We collaborate with various departments and conduct in-depth market research to create a brand that resonates with today’s consumers,” she added.
Role of accountants in company’s success
Claretta Vanny Avionita, the second speaker, offered a different perspective by discussing the role of accountants in ensuring a company’s success. She explained that accounting is not merely about numbers; it plays a pivotal role in strategic decision-making. “Our primary task is analyzing the company’s financial inflows and outflows to ensure it maintains healthy cash flow and achieves financial stability,” she noted.
Avionita underscored the importance of integrity and precision in financial reporting. “We must ensure that every financial statement reflects the company’s actual condition. Transparency and accuracy in reporting are key to fostering trust both within the organization and with external stakeholders,” she said.
Inspiring next generation
Both alumni highlighted that with a strong educational foundation and a commitment to continuous learning, anyone can succeed in their chosen career. They hope to motivate UNAIR students to take bold steps and explore opportunities within the beauty industry.
With the spirit of collaboration and drive shown by these alumni, the event marked a significant moment in preparing the next generation to navigate the challenges of an increasingly competitive job market.
