UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has had a close relationship with the Chinese Government. To maintain this relationship, the Chinese Government, through the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia visited UNAIR on Thursday, June 8, 2023.
UNAIR Vice Rector for Internationalization, Digitalization and Information, Dr. Muhammad Miftahussurur MKes SpPD-KGEH PhD, said a harmonious relationship between UNAIR and China had been fostered since 2016.
“UNAIR has carried out academic mobility with more than 20 universities in China,” he said. Prof Miftah added that currently, UNAIR has actively collaborated with five institutions in China.
The meeting was held to discuss plans to expand cooperation in education, research and innovation. UNAIR has four areas of research focus: health, engineering, natural sciences and social sciences, and humanities. Various funding programs are available, both institutional and international funding. “UNAIR also has an international funding network not only for research but also community empowerment,” he said,
Strengthening cooperations
Prof. Miftah hoped the meeting held at the MERR Campus C Management Building could strengthen cooperation. In this case, UNAIR will always provide full support in all processes.

“UNAIR will continue to show its commitment to improving existing partnerships. Not only cooperation in terms of academics or research but also in terms of culture. Today’s meeting also inspired us to explore the potential of the existing collaborations, “explained Prof. Miftah.
Meanwhile, Mr. Yifanping, the Conselor of Cultural Affairs, the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia, explained that Indonesia had established good bilateral relations with China. Moreover, according to Yifanping, UNAIR is the right partner to build cooperation.
“It is an honor for us to be able to visit UNAIR. We chose UNAIR because UNAIR is one of the best universities in Indonesia. So we think it is the right partner,” he explained.
Yifanping revealed that the cooperation would focus on three things: science, technology and innovation. “These three things will be our focus in conducting cooperation. Of course, this collaboration will further strengthen the good relations between Indonesia and China,” he concluded. (*)
