UNAIR and University of Nottingham strengthen research and innovation collaboration

UNAIR NEWS – As a world-class university, Universitas Airlangga continues to collaborate and establish partnerships with various prominent universities. This time, a collaboration is in the works with the University of Nottingham, England.

The collaboration was marked by the arrival of University of Nottingham UK representatives on Monday, June 6, 2022. Being held in AMERTA Hall, MERR (C) Campus UNAIR, the delegates were welcomed by Prof. Dr. Ni Nyoman Tri Puspaningsih MSi as Vice-Rector for Research, Innovation, and Community Development.

Prof. Nyoman welcomed Dr. Louise Walker as Associate Professor of Midwifery, Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences; David Ouchterlonie as Associate Director, Global Engagement (Strategy Support); and Shannon Baverstock as Senior Global Engagement Manager.

The strategic meeting attended by several representatives of faculties and researchers in UNAIR was also attended by Dr. Bagus Muljadi as Assistant Professor of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering; UK-Indonesia Consortium for Interdisciplinary Sciences (UKICIS) Coordinator.

Prof Nyoman presented a brief introduction about UNAIR in her opening remarks. She also explained several advantages that UNAIR has. Regarding strengthening research and innovation collaboration between UNAIR and the University of Nottingham, Prof. Nyoman hoped that it will run well.

“Of course, I hope that this activity will be the first step to produce research and innovation that can make a real contribution,” she said.

Meanwhile, Dr. Louise Walker responded well to Prof. Nyoman’s explanation. He said that his institution is very open to conducting collaborative research and discussions on various research issues. On the same occasion, David Ouchterlonie also said that Indonesia has tremendous potential.

“Moreover, many students from Indonesia are studying at our campus. Therefore, we are very open and hope that many from UNAIR will learn and conduct collaborative research with us,” he concluded.
