UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga Archive First Unit has made another achievement by gaining AA (Exceptional) from the National Accreditation of the Republic of Indonesia (ANRI). The accreditation score reached 91.08, which applies until 2028.
“The ANRI accreditation is a quality assessment and feasibility of archival institutions, in higher educations included,” Kiswari SSos, Head of UNAIR Archive. The Archive First Unit is a part of UNAIR Secretariat.
Accreditation preparation
Kiswari stated that one of the keys to gaining ANRI’s Exceptional grade(AA) accreditation lies in good coordination. “For instance, we need the audiovisual room for archive management, the Directorate of Facilities and Infrastructure provided it for us. The Directorate of Logistics, Security, Order and Environment (LKKL), Directorate of Human Resources (HR), and others have been great helps as well,” she said.
Archive First Unit also provided regular mentoring for active, inactive, and static archives to Archive Second Units at the faculty and work levels. “Moreover, we also facilitate financial support for faculties to restore the archive. Archive restoration is costly,” Kiswari said.
Archive First Unit is committed to improving its archivists and archive managers through training and apprenticeships. “They participate in website building classes and doing an apprenticeship in archival institutions in Surabaya and East Java,” she explained.
Follow-up actions
“As the accreditation is valid for the next six years, hopefully, we can maintain it. We want to improve the accreditation score,” Kiswari said. Therefore, Archive First Unit prepared several things, such as making oral archives, making films, and making exhibitions on handling and COVID-19 products released by UNAIR.
The Archive First Unit has taken actions on ANRI’s recommendations and suggestions. “Like revising the regulations and policy on university-level, adjusting to national’s policy, managing the inactive static archives, setting the standardized room temperature, and improving HR archivists and archive managers quality,” she ended.
