UNAIR Biometrics and Population Journal indexed by Scopus

UNAIR Journal of Biometrics and Population

UNAIR NEWS – UNAIR has made another proudest achievement. UNAIR Journal of Biometrics and Population has gained indexation by Scopus. It becomes the 13th UNAIR journal to be indexed by Scopus.

In this regard, UNAIR NEWS interviewed the Chief Editor of the Biometrics and Population Journal, Faculty of Public Health, UNAIR online on Thursday, Dec 21, 2023. Dr. Mahmudah Ir M Kes said that she was very grateful that the journal she and her team had worked for could be indexed by Scopus.

Alhamdulillah, we are very grateful that our Biometrics and Population Journal can be indexed by Scopus,” said Mahmudah.

Mahmudah explained that when the journal was indexed by the Science and Technology Index (SINTA) 2, the next step was to register with an international indexer. The team continued to make improvements before aiming for the international indexation.

“Of course, before registering for an international indexation, we improve our journal from its appearance to its language,” said Mahmudah.

Mahmudah continued, that they tried to submit it to the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) because they were reluctant to register to Scopus.

“Initially, we uploaded it to ESCI because we didn’t dare to register to Scopus. However, it turned out that we failed to get ESCI, and at the same time, we were asked to register with Scopus. Then, thank God, it worked well,” explained Mahmudah.

Mahmudah explained that after the Biometrics and Population Journal that she and her team managed was indexed by Scopus, they hoped that the Quartile (Q) journal categorization would come out soon, so the Biometrics and Population Journal could increase its citations.

“The next target is that Q from the journal will come out soon so that citations will increase. “We will do this by promoting articles that have been published in the Biometrics and Population Journal on social media,” explained Mahmudah.

Mahmudah also advised researchers who are struggling to get their journals indexed by Scopus to strengthen their analysis. She continued, that proper analysis is very necessary to open up opportunities to be accepted as a Scopus-indexed journal.

“Now researchers have many choices when they want to research journals. The most important thing is to make the article as good as possible, provide precise analysis and sharp discussion,” concluded Mahmudah.
