UNAIR NEWS – The Directorate of Student Affairs (Ditmawa) of Universitas Airlangga organized a briefing event for the Student Entrepreneurship Development Program (P2MW). Director of Student Affairs, Prof Dr. M. Hadi Subhan SH MH, with Angga Erlando M EC DEV, delivered presentations to students at Kahuripan 300 Hall, Kahuripan Building, MERR-C UNAIR, on Feb 19, 2024.

P2MW is somewhat akin to the PIMNAS program, both initiated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. P2MW Is a national competition for students with an interest in entrepreneurship. Speaking to UNAIR NEWS, Prof Hadi mentioned that UNAIR’s achievements have consistently been among the best, not far from those in PIMNAS.

“It’s an annual event, and we consistently take part. Furthermore, the accomplishments consistently place us at the forefront, comparable to those in PIMNAS,” said Prof. Hadi.

During his presentation, Angga explained that there are two criteria for teams to participate in P2MW: early-stage business and growing business teams. Among these criteria, six business categories include (1) Food and beverage, (2) Cultivation, (3) Creative Industry, Arts & Culture, (4) Services, Trade & Tourism, (5) Manufacturing & Applied Technology, (6) Digital Business.

Participation in the competition is open to personally owned businesses; students are not permitted to include businesses owned by others. Furthermore, students’ commitment to engaging in every stage of the process is crucial. Additional guidelines and regulations can be accessed on the official website of the Ministry of Education and Culture.

“There will be training and mentoring for qualified teams for the internal selection that must be followed,” he explained.

Prof Hadi stated that the P2MW briefing is part of the Merdeka Belajar (Emancipated Learning) initiative. Entrepreneurship is one of the nine pillars of Merdeka Belajar. The briefing event is a student’s right to take advantage of the Emancipated Learning program.

“Firstly, P2MW is also part of MBKM, being one of the nine pillars of MBKM, entrepreneurship,” he said.

“Secondly, it’s the student’s right to choose a track in Merdeka Belajar. We will accommodate it,” he added.

Furthermore, Prof Hadi hopes that the implementation of this program will foster entrepreneurial spirit among students. Establishing a career does not necessarily entail students working for companies.

“After completing their studies, students may venture into developing their businesses, potentially evolving into entrepreneurs who employ others. It’s a great action to provide new job opportunities,” he said.
