UNAIR NEWSUniversitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has achieved another outstanding milestone, now ranked as the second-best university in Indonesia according to the 2025 Quacquarelli Symonds Asian University Rankings (QS AUR). This announcement was made during the QS Higher Education Summit: Asia Pacific, held in Macau on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.

In addition to its second-place national ranking, UNAIR now holds the 12th position in Southeast Asia and the 52nd position in Asia, achieving a score of 70.5. This is an improvement from last year when UNAIR ranked 15th in Southeast Asia and 67th in Asia based on the 2024 QS AUR.

These achievements are closely tied to rankings across several key indicators. For the indicators of International Student and International Research Network, UNAIR holds the #1 national position. Meanwhile, in the Employer Reputation indicator, UNAIR ranks #2 nationally. These indicators serve as benchmarks for both the quality and relevance of the education offered by the university.

UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih, SE MT Ak, stated that this achievement is the result of UNAIR’s ongoing efforts to improve in various areas, including teaching and research facilities. He emphasized that the quality of laboratories and research support facilities enables the academic community to produce impactful innovations and contributions.

“The increase in research facilities will have a clear impact; our academic reputation will undoubtedly improve, as research is highly regarded,” Prof. Nasih explained. “If our research facilities meet international standards, they will also gain recognition. This includes joint research with international partners. With high-quality facilities, our partners will certainly be interested in collaborating as well.”

However, Prof. Nasih added that rankings are not the primary goal. According to him, the true priority lies in the tangible impact generated by students through research, new innovations, and improvements in every aspect.

Once again, the goal is not about rankings, but about conducting research to the highest standards,” he stated. “Students should be able to utilize these facilities for research and engage in meaningful discussions that spark new innovations. For UNAIR, the most important thing is continuous improvement, improvement, improvement.”

UNAIR’s rise in both national and regional rankings is also a fitting tribute to its upcoming 70th anniversary, which will be celebrated on November 10. This accomplishment underscores UNAIR’s ongoing commitment to enhancing its standards, particularly in education and teaching.
