UNAIR NEWSUniversitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has earned international recognition by achieving a 4-star rating in the 2023 Healthy University Rating System (HURS). This accolade was awarded by the ASEAN University Network-Health Promotion Network (AUN-HPN) during the 10th Anniversary celebration of the ASEAN University Network–Health Promotion Network, held on December 3–4, 2024, in Bangkok, Thailand. This achievement reaffirms UNAIR’s commitment to fostering a healthy and globally competitive campus environment.

The 4-star rating reflects UNAIR’s strong performance across key metrics established by HURS. Representing the university, Dr. Sri Widati, SSos, MSi, outlined the core evaluation criteria, which include infrastructure and systems, health promotion initiatives, and a zero-tolerance policy. “UNAIR has implemented several programs and infrastructures that align with these evaluation indicators to create a healthy campus,” said the lecturer from UNAIR’s Faculty of Public Health (FKM).

Dr. Widati highlighted UNAIR’s implementation of a zero-tolerance policy as a pivotal strategy for creating a healthy campus culture. This policy strictly prohibits smoking, gambling, bullying, sexual harassment, and alcohol consumption, aiming to safeguard the physical and mental well-being of the academic community.

“This policy is enforced rigorously to support the health and welfare of all members of the academic community,” she emphasized. UNAIR has also introduced several health promotion initiatives, including the Happy and Healthy Lifestyle (H2L) program, which focuses on physical fitness and mental health awareness across all faculties and departments.

One standout initiative is UNAIR’s Sobat Happy and Healthy (SOBY) program, which sets it apart from other institutions. “SOBY, managed by the Airlangga Health Promotion Center (AHPC), has trained approximately 400 students. Through this program, trained students are equipped to guide their peers in adopting a happy and healthy lifestyle,” she added.

Additionally, UNAIR offers comprehensive health services to all members of its community. “Physical health services, including screenings, are accessible at health units such as the Health Services Center (PLK) and Airlangga University Hospital (RSUA). For mental health, UNAIR offers support through a Help Center, the Psychological Services Unit (UPP), and the PPKS Task Force to address sexual harassment cases,” Dr. Widati elaborated.

To sustain and enhance its health initiatives, UNAIR regularly evaluates its programs to ensure continuous improvement. “We emphasize the importance of routine monitoring and planning to enhance the health of our campus year by year. Our goal is to achieve a 5-star rating in the next HURS evaluation in 2025,” Dr. Widati stated.

Two other Indonesian universities, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and Universitas Indonesia (UI), were also honored during the event, marking a proud moment for higher education in Indonesia.
