UNAIR NEWS – The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia is going to relaunch their flagship program, Nusantara Event Charisma (KEN) 2024. The program aims to boost tourism and the creative economy sectors in Indonesia by attracting both domestic and international tourists.
According to Dr. Sri Herianingrum, an Economics expert from the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Airlangga, the launch of Karisma Event Nusantara has significant implications for creative economy players in Indonesia. The program, part of the second and fourth generation initiatives, aims to attract both domestic and international tourists to various regions in Indonesia.
Indonesian tourism diversity
Indonesia has a diverse range of tourism potential, from natural destinations to historical sites, from business centers to unique places in every region. Each province and district in Indonesia has its own unique characteristics when it comes to tourism destinations.
“Karisma Event Nusantara aims to introduce and enhance the uniqueness and distinctiveness of the archipelago, reaching even the sub-district level in each district,” she explained.
The challenges
The economist emphasized that the program’s launch has a significant impact on the development of Indonesia’s creative economy industry. It not only strengthens the identity of Nusantara tourism but also creates opportunities for local creative economy players to enhance their products and services. However, this implementation comes with challenges, including intense market competition and the necessity for quality products and facilities.
“The collaboration between the government, MSME industries, and local creative communities is crucial in overcoming these challenges. Through strong cooperation, creative economy players can prepare themselves for heightened market competition and capitalize on emerging opportunities,” she stated.
Collaboration to overcome challenges
She emphasized that the launch of Karisma Event Nusantara has a positive impact on empowering local creative economy players. By strengthening local production and introducing region-specific products, the program improves the income and the sustainability of local creative economy production.
“By strengthening the identity and allure of Nusantara tourism and empowering local creative economy players, this program is an important step in advancing Indonesia’s tourism and creative economy sector,” she said.
