UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has once again achieved a remarkable accomplishment. Just recently, Faculty of Psychology (FPsi) secured the second-best position in Indonesia based on SCImago Institution Ranking 2024. This achievement is the result of the hard work and collaboration of the entire UNAIR Faculty of Psychology’s academic community in research and publications.
SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR) ranks research institutions and universities worldwide. The ranking comprises five indicators: government, health, universities, companies, and non-profits, aimed at providing analysis, evaluation, and improving the impact and innovation outcomes of an institution.
Faculty of Psychology at UNAIR is also ranked 131st in Asia and 950th globally. It’s no easy feat for a psychology institution to attain such a position.
In an exclusive interview with UNAIR NEWS, the UNAIR Dean of Psychology, Prof. Dr. Suryanto MSi Psikolog, explained that SCImago Institution Rank ranking consists of three crucial indicators: research performance, innovation outcomes, and societal impact.
“This achievement is one of the indicators of Faculty of Psychology’s success in creating research and publications, in terms of quantity, innovation novelty, and impact on society. However, this does not make us complacent. We hope this achievement can be maintained and continuously improved each year,” he stated.
Higher Education Tridharma
Prof. Suryanto explained that research and studies are part of the tridharma of higher education, which must prioritize and maximize three aspects: education, research, and community services. He added that Faculty of Psychology will continue to support all three aspects.
“This support comes in the form of funding and the establishment of research groups. In these research activities, not only lecturers are involved but also students to learn together and develop innovative and beneficial innovations for society.”
In the end, UNAIR Dean of Psychology emphasized that achieving such a ranking is not the primary goal. Instead, it serves as fuel for the academic community to continue developing innovative and beneficial research and investigations for society.
