UNAIR NEWS – Amid concerns over declining literacy rates in Indonesia, the academic sector has taken a significant step forward at the start of the 2025 semester. The Department of Management at Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), has successfully released five books developed in collaboration with both domestic and international scholars. These publications include three books in English, as well as textbooks and reference materials designed to support a range of academic needs.
Five notable publications
One of the newly released books, Transformasi Bisnis dan Digital (Business and Digital Transformation), serves as the primary teaching resource for an undergraduate Management course of the same name. This book is the result of a collaborative effort among faculty members teaching the subject, with Prof. Dr. Gancar C. Premananto, the course coordinator, serving as one of its key contributors.
Furthermore, the Department of Management has introduced Managing Internationalization for Study Program. According to Prof. Premananto, this English-language reference book is specifically designed for higher education administrators overseeing internationalization efforts. Several faculty members contributed to its authorship under his leadership.
Another significant addition is Strategi FOMO dalam Pemasaran Kuliner (FOMO Strategies in Culinary Marketing). Prof. Premananto explained that this book serves as a valuable resource for graduate students seeking a deeper understanding of marketing strategies in the culinary industry. Co-authored with lecturers from Universitas Ciputra, the book provides a theoretical foundation for the Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) phenomenon, particularly in the context of culinary marketing.
Furthermore, Managing Transformation for Sustainability has been successfully published as an English-language reference book. This scholarly work is a collaboration among three newly appointed professors: Prof. Dr. Gancar C. Premananto, Prof. Dr. Nuri Herachwati, and Prof. Dr. Fitri Ismiyanti. The book serves as an academic contribution supporting the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The department’s contributions also extend to Teaching Entrepreneurship in Emerging Markets, a book chapter exploring entrepreneurship education in universities worldwide. This publication was led by Dr. Vasilios Stouraitis of Glasgow Caledonian University, UK.
Prof. Premananto highlighted that one of the subchapters discusses the Holistic Entrepreneur Ecosystem, an approach implemented within the Department of Management at FEB UNAIR. Notably, this collaborative work, co-authored with Dr. Masmira Kurniawati, Dr. Tri Siwi Agustina, and Noorlaily Fitdiarini, MBA, successfully brought together scholars from across Asia, Africa, and the Americas.

Advancing knowledge sharing
The publication of these five books is not the culmination of the Department of Management’s academic initiatives but rather a stepping stone in its ongoing commitment to research and scholarship. Several other book projects are currently in development. Moving forward, the department aims to further solidify its role in fostering an inclusive and impactful academic ecosystem.
“Scientific publications and books represent a fundamental aspect of a faculty member’s contributions to the dissemination of knowledge. At FEB UNAIR, we are committed to actively engaging in the global exchange of knowledge. This is why we continue to produce English-language academic books,” concluded Prof. Premananto.
