UNAIR NEWS – Another good news comes from Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga (FEB) UNAIR. Four study programs of FEB: Islamic Economics, Accounting, Development Economics, and Management are ranked first in Indonesia.

To UNAIR NEWS on March 27, 2023, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business UNAIR, Prof. Dr. Dian Agustia SE MSi Ak, said that this significant rank improvement results from the performance and collaboration of all parties. Lecturers, administrative staff, students, and alumni have produced many achievements and creations.

“There is an improvement in performance for the Faculty of Economics and Business UNAIR. However, this joy must be followed by improved performance in the next stage. Of course, maintaining it requires more effort than achieving it,” she concluded.

The Best Faculty of Economics in Indonesia

In its release, Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings (QS WUR) 2023 by Subject, a ranking institution for study programs on universities worldwide, ranked fields of Accounting & Finance and Economics & Econometrics FEB UNAIR in first place in Indonesia. It was followed by the field of Business & Management Studies in third place in Indonesia, which in the previous year was in fourth position.

Globally, the improvement was also visible. FEB’s Accounting & Finance is ranked #101-150 globally when previously ranked 201-250. Economics & Econometrics is at #201-250 position when previously at #251-300, and Business & Management Studies is at #251-300 position, previously in the world’s 201-350 position.

“Students also contributed to this achievement. It’s now our job how to improve performance, such as education, research, community service. We will advance together,” she added.

Maximizing all potentials

In its assessment, QS WUR By Subject has released six indicators that must be met: academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty-student ratio, citations per faculty, international faculty, and international students.

“In research, we have a pretty good target every year. And hopefully, the orientation for the research publication will not be in Q4, Q3, but in Q1, Q2. Of course, this has a positive impact on citations,” she said.

She added that students are encouraged to join outbound, and inbound activities continue to be maximized. According to her, it can accelerate internationalization process. In addition, fostering student achievement from various levels is also encouraged for the development of the students themselves.

“This academic culture is what we are building. Everything cannot be separated from the university’s academic culture. Because of the policies from the university, everything at SMART University program supports the achievement of rankings,” she said.

According to Prof. Dian, FEB will face greater challenges in the future. Collaborating and synergy is the main key. She always conveys her motto: synergy by heart. Hopefully, in every step and achievement the contributions of all parties can complement each other. (*)
