UNAIR FIKKIA Valley produces 9 student startup teams

UNAIR NEWS – Faculty of Health, Medicine, and Natural Sciences (FIKKIA) UNAIR Banyuwangi continue to make efforts to be an entrepreneurial faculty. FIKKIA Valley 1.0 serves as an incubation and business acceleration program that gathers startup initiatives from FIKKIA UNAIR students. The program supports startup teams through mentoring, and validation (of problems and products), and culminates in Demo Day (final pitching). Nine teams advanced to the final pitching round, showcasing their finished products.

Arif Habib Fasya, SPi MSi, mentor of FIKKIA Valley 1.0, stated that FIKKIA Valley aims to foster an entrepreneurial atmosphere among students and increase the number of graduates who pursue entrepreneurship. Many export-oriented product designs by FIKKIA students lacked sufficient development support. This program helps in advancing student business concepts under the internationalization framework of Universitas Airlangga.

“Through FIKKIA Valley, we hope all startup ventures improve and, when marketed, can benefit society. We can create business ideas using facilities provided by UNAIR,” he said during Demo Day on Sunday, May 12, 2024, at Balesaji, Banyuwangi.

Piyandaru Agung, Manager of Research and Validation at E-Fishery, emphasized that building a business should focus on maximum usefulness. To maintain a sustainable business, startups must show passion for their products. This dedication helps businesses thrive despite market dynamics during their growth phase.

“The emphasized business should address societal issues by maintaining or creating valuable innovations,” said one of the FIKKIA Valley judges.

As the leading startup hub of Ksatria Airlangga from the Banyuwangi campus, FIKKIA Valley 1.0 successfully presented several products to the market. The nine startup teams presented products in two categories. Healthy food products included LABODAYA processed food, Oh My Goat goat milk, Coovia Cookies, and Be Shine herbal tea. In the agriculture and livestock sector, products included the Cocus water quality control device, Kanire B-Trap fish feed, Imunfish, and the Amerta water recirculation system.
