UNAIR inaugurates three professors, Rector emphasizes synergy of knowledge, ethics, and service to the nation

UNAIR NEWSUniversitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has officially appointed three new professors, marking another milestone in the university’s academic achievements. The inauguration ceremony, held on Wednesday (October 29, 2025) at Garuda Mukti Hall, MERR-C Campus, was a significant moment for the scholars as they reached the peak of their academic careers. This appointment further strengthens UNAIR’s contribution to education, research, and innovation at both the national and global levels.

The newly appointed professors are Prof. Dr. Bintoro Wardiyanto, Drs., M.Si. (Professor of Management Science and Capacity Development Policy) from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences; Prof. Dr. Nirawati Pribadi, drg., M.Kes., Sp.KG(K) (Professor of Endodontic Microbiology) from the Faculty of Dental Medicine; and Prof. Dr. Dessy Harisanty, S.Sos., M.A. (Professor of Information Behavior) from the Faculty of Vocational Studies.

In his address, Rector Prof. Dr. Muhammad Madyan emphasized that earning the title of professor is not only an academic success but also a moral commitment to continually contribute to society.

“The title of professor is not merely a personal milestone. It represents both academic recognition and a moral responsibility to innovate, mentor, and inspire others,” said Prof. Madyan.

Prof. Madyan further highlighted that this inauguration embodies UNAIR’s strong commitment to producing high-quality human resources dedicated to advancing the nation. He expressed hope that this accomplishment would inspire other UNAIR scholars to pursue the highest level of academic achievement.

“With the growing number of professors, UNAIR continues to strengthen its reputation as one of the world’s top universities, now ranked 287th globally according to the QS World University Rankings,” he stated.

The Rector also underscored the central themes of the professors’ scientific orations, which highlighted the importance of integrating scientific knowledge with ethics and sustainability. He noted that true scientific progress is not measured solely by technological advancement but also by its positive impact on humanity.

“I hope today’s professors will not stop at this academic milestone, but will continue advancing their research, fostering innovation, and expanding interdisciplinary collaboration,” he said.

Prof. Madyan concluded by urging all members of the UNAIR academic community to uphold the university’s core value of Excellence with Morality. “Keep striving to make meaningful contributions through the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. May your knowledge, research, and service continue to benefit humanity, the nation, and the world,” he concluded.
