UNAIR NEWSUniversitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has once again earned international recognition for academic excellence. The Journal of Information Systems Engineering and Business Intelligence (JISEBI), a leading publication of the undergraduate Information Systems program at the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), has officially been ranked in the Q3 quartile by the SCImago Journal Rank (SJR).

Dr. Indra Kharisma Raharjana, S.Kom., M.T., Editor-in-Chief of JISEBI, noted that while the journal was indexed in Scopus in 2023, this is the first year it has received an official SJR classification. “SJR rankings are updated annually, and the 2024 list was released on April 7, 2025. This marks JISEBI’s debut in the rankings, and we’ve already secured a spot in Q3,” he said.

Dr. Raharjana added that JISEBI has also distinguished itself in its academic discipline. “In the ‘Information Systems’ subject category, JISEBI earned the highest score among all Indonesian journals, placing first out of nine. This confirms JISEBI as the top Information Systems journal in the country,” he stated.

Dr. Raharjana explained that the SJR evaluation focuses heavily on weighted citations, meaning the influence of a journal is determined not only by how often it’s cited but also by the prestige of the journals doing the citing. “The more often our work is referenced by highly respected journals, the stronger our SJR score becomes,” he explained.

To improve visibility and impact, Dr. Raharjana and his editorial team regularly encourage authors to actively promote their published papers. “We remind contributors to share their published work with colleagues and cite it in future research. This helps grow both the journal’s reach and its academic influence,” he said.

From an editorial standpoint, JISEBI places strong emphasis on both syntactic and semantic quality. Manuscripts undergo a rigorous review process that assesses not only writing mechanics but also the originality and scientific contribution of the content.

“Our authors, peer reviewers, and editorial staff all play critical roles in maintaining publication standards. This shared commitment to excellence has been central to JISEBI’s continued progress. Strong content is what ultimately drives journal impact,” Dr. Raharjana remarked.

Looking ahead, Dr. Raharjana expressed hope that JISEBI will rise to Q2 or even Q1 in future rankings. He believes this advancement will further strengthen the reputation of the Information Systems program, FST, and UNAIR as a whole—both within Indonesia and abroad.

“We envision JISEBI becoming a premier platform for researchers, particularly from Universitas Airlangga, to make a meaningful impact on society through scholarship rooted in excellence with morality,” he concluded.
