UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has sent 910 students for the Community Service Program – Learning with Community (KKN-BBK) 3 in Gresik Regency, East Java. The students from 16 faculties will conduct community services for one month in 91 villages within four sub-districts: Cerme, Benjeng, Kebomas, and Menganti.
The students received a warm welcome at the Gresik Regent’s Office on Tuesday, Jan 9, 2024. Among the attendees were the Regent of Gresik Regency H. Fandi Akhmad Yani SE and his staff, the Head of Institute for Research and Community Service Prof Dr Gadis Meinar Sari dr MKes, the Head of UNAIR Quality Assurance Board Prof Nurul Barizah SH LLM PhD and KKN field supervisors – BBK Gresik Regency.
Head of the UNAIR Institute for Research and Community Service, Prof. Dr. Gadis Meinar Sari, Dr. MKes, said that the implementation of KKN-BBK in Gresik Regency has been held for the third time. She hoped that students would adapt, learn, and support the communities in solving the problems for a month.
The students and field supervisors have prepared four areas of work programs that will be implemented in their respective sub-districts or villages, encompassing education, health, environment, and community economic empowerment.
“Previously, these students had also received provision and material related to these areas,” she said.
Prof. Gadis also warned students to avoid negative acts relating to the general election or go against the norms of society. If UNAIR students engage in inappropriate behavior on purpose, UNAIR will impose sanctions on that student.
“Maintain the reputation of your alma mater, don’t violate the rules or customs,” she said.
She hoped that this KKN-BBK activity could run well so that everyone could get blessings and benefit society. “Good luck in your service, work, contribution and apply the knowledge you have in real society,” she said.
The ‘Nawa Karsa’ program
Meanwhile, H. Fandi Akhmad Yani SE thanked UNAIR for putting its trust in Gresik as a location for KKN-BBK with large numbers of students. He stated that the 4 program focuses are in line with the development of Gresik Regency.
“There are nine development priorities for Gresik Regency. Gresik Akas, Seger, Mapan, Agropolitan, Mandiri, Cerdas, Sehati, Barokah, dan Lestari. This ‘Nawa Karsa’ program is not much different from the four programs of yours,” he said.
The Regent, widely known as Gus Yani, hoped that through KKN-BBK, students could guide the community, set a good example, and provide their best work in society. “Today, you will interact with the community first-hand and learn the social conditions of the community. Hopefully, you can give your all for the people of Gresik Regency,” he appealed.
Previously, Rector of Universitas Airlangga has released 2,800 KKN students consisting of (2,180 regular KKN, 332 with KKN equivalent activities, 240 Golden Village KKN who collaborated with the Surabaya City Government). They participated in KKN in 3 districts: Banyuwangi, Gresik and Surabaya.
