UNAIR NEWS — Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) convened its Coordination Meeting of Study Program Coordinators (KPS) at the Amerta Room on the 4th floor of the Management Building at MERR-C Campus. The two-day meeting, held Wednesday (Dec 3, 2025) and Thursday (Dec 4, 2025), served as a key forum to align the strategies of all study programs in strengthening academic governance and advancing UNAIR’s mission to become a World-Class Entrepreneurial University that is both excellent and impactful.
Transformative leadership at study program level
UNAIR Vice Rector for Resources, Prof Dr Ardianto SE Ak MSi, officially opened the meeting. Prof Ardianto underscored that KPS leaders function as field commanders and form the leading edge of the university’s strategic vision. He noted that the role of a KPS extends far beyond administrative duties, requiring transformative leadership that ensures academic quality, promotes adaptive curriculum innovation that responds to scientific and industry developments, and elevates student achievements at national and international levels.
“You are not merely curriculum coordinators, you are the primary drivers ensuring academic excellence. You safeguard the quality of teaching, assessment, and academic integrity within each study program,” Prof Ardianto stated.

During his presentation, Prof Ardianto also outlined several challenges UNAIR must address, such as the still-uneven ratio of master’s and doctoral students expected of a research university, unequal teaching load distribution among faculty, and low student achievement and inbound mobility in several programs. He urged KPS leaders to be more proactive in attracting high-performing students and ensuring their active engagement in the university’s research ecosystem.
WCU management and expanding alumni impact
One of the primary topics discussed was World-Class University (WCU) Management, which focused on strategies for managing study programs using international benchmarks. This includes enhancing instructional quality, building a strong research reputation, and strengthening global networks. The material was designed to boost the leadership capacity of KPS leaders so they can manage programs in adaptable, innovative, and data-driven ways that advance Key Performance Indicators (IKU) and global rankings.
The meeting also featured a session on Alumni Impact, highlighting the essential role alumni play in supporting program advancement. Alumni who engage as strategic partners, in academics, research, entrepreneurship, and professional networks, can significantly elevate UNAIR’s reputation and its contributions to society. Through this coordination meeting, UNAIR reaffirmed its commitment to positioning every study program as a center of excellence with strong global competitiveness.
