UNAIR NEWS – The Airlangga SDGs School, organized by Universitas Airlangga’s (UNAIR) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Center, officially kicked off on Wednesday, August 21, 2024. The event, held in the Rote Room, 4th Floor of the ASEEC Tower at UNAIR’s Dharmawangsa – B Campus, gathered selected students from various academic levels.
Among the four speakers was Dr. Nilam Andalia Kurniasari, who presented on the Legal and Governance Pillar of the SDGs. Dr. Kurniasari highlighted that one of the core aspects of the Legal Pillar in the SDGs is Goal 16, which focuses on peace, justice, and strong institutions.
“SDG Goal 16 is a challenge and an ideal that we must work towards, ensuring that peace, justice, and strong institutions are realized at UNAIR, in Indonesia, and globally. This goal can be achieved through ongoing efforts that promote justice, humanity, and robust governance,” Dr. Kurniasari stated.
Legal pillar implementation
Dr. Kurniasari explained that the implementation of SDG Goal 16 can be observed in various initiatives. At UNAIR, for example, there are regulations designed to prevent bullying on campus.
“One such initiative is UNAIR’s enforcement of anti-bullying policies. This underscores our commitment to creating an educational environment free from oppression, such as bullying,” she said.

The Airlangga SDGs School serves as an example of building this foundation to reach the SDGs. “The overall success of the SDGs depends on establishing a solid foundation, which is why SDG 16 must be realized as soon as possible,” she concluded.
