UNAIR Law student wins second place in national Taekwondo competition

UNAIR NEWS – Marsha Alycia, a standout student from the Faculty of Law, Universitas Airlangga (FH UNAIR), has garnered acclaim in the realm of Taekwondo. She has secured several trophies for her alma mater in Taekwondo. On March 1-4, 2024, Marsha once again clinched 2nd place in the National-level Kyorugi (sparring) category of Taekwondo. The competition was held by the National Sports Committee of Indonesia at the Ahmad Yani Sports Hall, TNI Headquarters, West Java.

For the competition, Marsha admitted that she had less than a month of preparation. She has her training regimen to face competitions with a relatively short preparation time.

“I train physically and technically every day, so when facing a competition with a short preparation time like this one, with only one month of preparation, I already have sufficient techniques,” she said.

Participating in Taekwondo competitions, especially in the Kyorugi category, her biggest challenge is overcoming laziness. Considering that this is not Marsha’s first competition, having been involved in the world of Taekwondo since the age of 9, she prioritizes physical and mental strength when facing her opponents.

“This is not my first competition, given that I have been involved in the world of Taekwondo since the age of 9. Therefore, the main challenge lies in overcoming laziness and fatigue amidst a busy college schedule,” she said.

Marsha has faced ups and downs throughout her journey in Taekwondo competitions. She acknowledges that the key to her endurance thus far lies in her spirit and hard work.

“Spirit and hard work are the keys to achieving my goals as an athlete. I remain unsatisfied, striving for continuous growth and refinement in the future, as long as circumstances permit,” she concluded.

Marsha also shared a piece of advice for engaging in competitions, advocating for the courage to participate and choosing competitions based on personal interests, without concern for the outcomes.
