UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has improved its global reputation as the Quacquarelli Symonds published its latest World University Rankings (QS WUR). UNAIR is ranked #345 among top universities worldwide for the 2024 edition. The ranking was published on Monday, June 28, 2023. UNAIR has leapt 24 places from its previous position at #369.
UNAIR Rector, Prof Dr Mohammad Nasih SE MT Ak, stated that this achievement is the result of continuous efforts of quality improvement. The latest rank illustrates the institution global reputation. “This ranking reflects UNAIR’s improved position among top universities in the world,” he said.
UNAIR continues to improve quality through its SMART strategic programs coined by Prof. Nasih. “We focus on quality improvement through joint efforts,” he said.
SMART stands for Sustainable education for all, Meaningful research and community services, Advancing innovation, enterprising, and industry linkages, Responsive and learn management, and Topping up resources utilization.
Ranking indicators
UNAIR latest position cannot be separated from its achievements in the ranking indicators. For Employer reputation, UNAIR is ranked 95th globally with 30 points improvement from last year’s. It is an important indicator for a tertiary education institution as it is the benchmark of quality and relevance of the education.
“Alhamdulillah, it is an exciting achievement, but on the other hand, it comes with great responsibility,” he stated.
This achievement is the proof that UNAIR’s continuous improvements in the aspect of education and teaching have brought a significant impact. “Our current position reflects the improvements we do in education and teaching aspects, so our graduates have what it takes to compete and they can be absorped well by the job market,” revealed UNAIR Rector.
Another indicator is academic reputation. UNAIR is ranked 254th globally with 23 points improvement. Researches conducted by UNAIR are aimed to expand the science. Prof Nasih revealed that as of June 2023, UNAIR has the most scientific publications in reputable journals.
“Our publications as of this semester is at an excellent position. We have the most publications in reputable journals. It is amazing,” explained the Faculty of Economics and Business professor.
The other indicators include faculty student ratio, international faculty ratio, sustainability, citations per faculty, employment outcomes, international research network and international students ratio.
UNAIR Leadership
Prof Nasih also conveyed his method in leading UNAIR to be one of the world-class university. The most important, in his opinion, is how to be the driving force of all components to be committed with the established vision.
“Harmony is important in our academic community. The solid teamwork will make UNAIR successful in making more achievements,” he concluded. (*)
