UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga inaugurated four professors on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, in Garuda Mukti Hall. Prof Dr. Mohammad Nasih SE MT Ak stated that the orations show science inclusiveness and interdisciplinary in UNAIR.
In his opening speech, Prof Nasih underlined that inclusiveness in science is a fundamental certainty. In recent years, UNAIR attempts interdisciplinary collaboration on both internal and external campuses.
For instance, Prof Dr. Lilik Maslachah drh MKes the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine professor’s speech on malaria disease and its cure, which Prof Nasih applauded.
“Whereas disease and medicine are in the field of the Faculty of Medicine. So does our professor from the Faculty of Law, Prof Hadi Subhan,” said UNAIR Rector.
Prof Hadi gave his scientific speech on bankruptcy. He pointed out economic aspects related to accounting, assets, and solvency. The research is a positive result of collaboration between the Faculty of Law (FH) and the Faculty of Economic and Business (FEB).
So did Prof Dr. Ahmad Yudianto dr SF SH MKes from the Faculty of Medicine (FK) and Prof Rahma Sugihartati from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) in their respective scientific orations. While Prof Yudi explained the legal aspects of the [forensic] identification process, Prof Rahma highlighted the information aspect of Library Science.
“This inauguration moment shows that no more sciences is exclusive. In UNAIR, the science exclusiveness has eroded. Better collaboration between each field of sciences awaits,” said Prof Nasih.
Applying technology
Apart from the science inclusiveness, the rector appreciated the professors’ attempts to apply technology to the research. The use of technology is demanded in every field of science to optimize the functions.
“Technology allows the natural and traditional ingredients to be well-optimized as conducted in Prof Lilik’s research. So is the utilization in DNA identification, bankruptcy, science, and information,” he said.
Prof Nasih hoped all UNAIR academicians could consistently implement the interdisciplinary research. It has become the main demand for newly inaugurated professors due to their scientific authority.
“Our four professors will boost our energy and motivate us to move forward. It significantly contributes to the human race nationally and globally,” he said.
