UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has deployed its best students for the Community Service Program – Learning with Community (KKN-BBM). In a send-off ceremony on Monday, July 11, 2022, UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih SE MT Ak advised students to contribute in providing as much benefit to the community as possible.

“In addition to being useful as a place of learning for students, the community is also expected to gain the benefits of this program. For this reason, KKN participants must have a good impact on the community,” he said.

The 65th UNAIR KKN-BBM was held offline. They were deployed to eleven areas in East Java, Bojonegoro, Madiun, Surabaya, Banyuwangi, Lamongan, Jember, Gresik, Bangkalan, as well as Islamic boarding schools located in the Bangkalan, Sampang, and Pamekasan areas.

Given the importance of this program for the community and students, the Rector plans to hold KKN with a longer duration and conversion of the semester credit system (SKS). “With a longer period, the programs are expected to be more consistent and organized, to provide benefits,” he said at the event held at the Airlangga Convention Center (ACC) Building, MERR (C) Campus.

Mayor of Surabaya attendance

Prof. Nasih asked for permission directly from the Mayor of Surabaya, Eri Cahyadi, who was also present at the send-off ceremony, to release students to communities and regions in Surabaya. “Later on, students will work on community service projects in Surabaya by engagements in the urban communities and neighborhoods (RW-RT), and other communities,” explained UNAIR Rector.

In addition to bringing benefits to students and the community, students are also encouraged to bring fresh air to existing problems in the community. “Students are sent for KKN to be a blessing to the universe, not a problem to the universe,” he said.

The 66th KKN-BBM was the first KKN activity to be held offline. KKN was held in a hybrid manner for two years due to the increasing positive cases of Covid-19. For the enthusiasm, Prof. Nasih did not forget to remind students to maintain health protocols (prokes).

“Regarding the increasing cases of Covid-19 and other viruses, students are expected to continue to maintain the health protocols, and even educate the public to comply with the procedures both indoors and outdoors,” he said. (*)
