UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) is fully committed to achieving the World-Class University. Thus, UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih SE MT Ak shared his leadership commitment in his book during the Book Launching and Discussion of Leadership Towards a World-Class University. The Directorate General of Higher Education held the event at the Novotel Hotel, Tangerang, on Friday, June 9, 2023.
Prof. Nasih stated that UNAIR strives to improve its quality, especially regarding the Tri Dharma (Three Pillars) of Higher Education. The quality improvement is an integral part of both institutional and personal initiatives and commitments of a rector.
Through collaborative performance, UNAIR is committed to being a World-Class University.
In realizing the World-Class University, UNAIR develops the strategy of “Transformation Through Innovation and Operational Excellence”.
“We encourage UNAIR to be a comprehensive World-Class University. It shows from the contribution UNAIR has given through the Tri Dharma of Higher Education,” he said.
Preparation of Institution
In developing the commitment towards the World-Class University, all academicians must work together. It takes the leader’s involvement to oversee all elements to achieve a shared vision. Therefore, Prof. Nasih appreciates everyone who has contributed to the program.
“There are several important factors, like enablers preparation, internal quality improvement, strengthening of resources, and reputation enhancement,” he said.
Governance transformation
Being a leader in a university comes with significant responsibilities. Leaders must have adequate skills to manage with fairness and balance. Prof. Nasih explained that institutionalizing values must be considered to build an adaptive organizational structure.
This is reinforced by metrics-based planning agility, which results in excellent performance in its implementation. The rector emphasized that a leader holds a crucial role as they are responsible for the performance result.
“There are several key factors for leaders, including commitment, establishing direction and goals for implementation, and mobilizing all university components with supportive climate and resources,” he said.
