UNAIR Rector urges KKN students to commit to Poverty Eradication in Indonesia

UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has sent out 2,686 students to participate in the Community Learning Service (KKN) Program, Learning with Community (BBK) 4. The event was on Monday, July 1, 2024, at the Airlangga Convention Center (ACC) on the MEER-C Campus.

This year’s KKN program is notable for its diversity, with students divided into three different KKN BBK groups. Around 2,650 students are involved in the Regular KKN BBK, spread across six districts/cities in East Java (Banyuwangi, Gresik, Lamongan, Madiun, Mojokerto, Surabaya). Additionally, five students are involved in the National KKN BBK in Ambon, Maluku, and 31 students are taking part in the International BBK KKN in three countries: Australia, Japan, and Malaysia.

UNAIR Rector, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih SE MT Ak, stressed that UNAIR students should always strive to be beneficial to society, regardless of where they are or who they are with. “Our presence in society must be impactful. Wherever you are, always strive to be a blessing and provide benefits to everyone,” he stated.

Prof. Nasih, from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at UNAIR, also urged students to be lifelong learners, gaining wisdom from all experiences, whether failures or successes. He encouraged KKN students to understand and solve issues in the community.

“One key to success is transforming unfavorable situations into positive ones and improving what is already good,” he stated.

Additionally, Prof. Nasih advised students to maintain the university’s esteemed reputation. He emphasized that UNAIR’s global standing must remain untarnished, noting that UNAIR is currently ranked number one worldwide among universities focused on poverty eradication (SDG1: No Poverty).

“Today, we have a special mission and a future commitment to eradicate poverty in Indonesia. Show that we, as UNAIR students, possess high moral standards,” he concluded.
