UNAIR NEWS – Researchers from Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) continue to make commendable accomplishments. This time, Dr. Arif Nur Muhammad Ansori, MSi, a researcher from the UNAIR Postgraduate School, received The Conversation Indonesia (TCID) Author Awards 2023.
Arif was selected as the Editor’s Choice Author for Science and Health. He officially received this annual award on Friday, January 19, 2024. TCID is part of a global network that operates in several countries, including Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Canada, France, Spain, the United Kingdom, Africa, and Brazil.
Passion for science
Arif believed that the award was the sweet fruit of hard work. “I It is the outcome of dedication, love for science, and endeavor to popularize science with a simpler language,” he said on Monday, January 22, 2024. Several aspects were considered in the assessment for winning the TCID Authors Awards 2023.
The assessment focused on innovative, engaging, and easily understandable ideas. Arif focused on creating articles on biotechnology in the health field. “Productivity in writing articles is also part of the evaluation,” he explained.
Furthermore, Arif shared that his struggle to produce articles was not easy. Although he had to go through various stages of revision, Arif’s passion for science provided an unyielding source of motivation. “The first time, I received many revision notes, ranging from ideas to presentation. These revisions aimed to make the writing lighter and more understandable,” he explained.
Arif revealed that a writer accustomed to writing scientific journals should start learning to write more simply. It can be useful to share knowledge in a way that is easier for the public to understand.
“Learning to write more simply and disseminating it through various media. Scientific journals are too difficult for the public to understand. Writing in a lighter style will make it easier for the public to comprehend,” he concluded.
